Hospitals and the health care industry are being deliberately targeted by hackers

In an article in The Telegraph in the UK dated 9 April 2019, BDO was quoted to have said that hospitals and the health care industry are being deliberately targeted by hackers, cyber criminals and spies as they hunt for details that can be used for extortion or even espionage.

The Telegraph, is a national British daily widely regarded as a national 'newspaper of record' and it maintains an international reputation for quality, having been described by the BBC as "one of the world's great titles".

Experts from BDO quoted several high profile breaches in the healthcare sector in Singapore during the last 2 years and the crippling of the NHS system in the UK following the WannaCry virus as examples of real and existing threats against the healthcare sector.

We do hope with the latest concurrence coming from a big consultancy firm, it would wake up local healthcare organisations as to the perils and real threats that would come from cyberspace.
