In December 2018, it was reported that hackers stole thousands of files from a phishing attack into Evercore. In this case, the biggest worry is that the hackers used and exploited the data from those files, a move which if transpired, could have a serious repercussion on the stock prices on those clients advised by the firm
In its advisory work, firms like this normally would work in tandem with a legal advisor or advisors - the advisory ecosystem - if it involves multiple jurisdictions
Maybe it is time the advisory ecosystem should sit up and take notice.
