Japan tech firm soliton systems invests in lookingglass cybersecurity

Japanese tech company Soliton Systems has brought LookingGlass Cyber Solutions on board as part of the company’s state-of-the-art solutions center, which will block threats in the leadup to the 2019 Rugby World Cup as well as the 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

LookingGlass Cyber Solutions’ ScoutVision and ScoutShield will be implemented into Soliton’s Solution Center and will provide early warnings of cyber threats, as well as threat intelligence to identify and stop malicious URLs.

In the leadup to the 2016 Olympic Games, cyber attackers conducted phishing campaigns that were designed to steal account credentials of International Olympic Committee officials.

As part of its defence system, Japan has pledged to boost its threat defences to keep teams, attendees and citizens secure.

“Cybersecurity threats by nation-states and other nefarious actors are continuously increasing in both scale and sophistication,” comments LookingGlass CEO Chris Coleman.

“This is especially the case surrounding events that draw international attendance. We are honored to partner with Soliton and support them in enhancing Japan’s cybersecurity posture prior to the Rugby World Cup and the 2020 Olympics.”

According to Soliton, their technology integrations will operationalize threat intelligence through strategic and tactical guidance that can disable cyber attacks.

Soliton and LookingGlass Cyber Solutions also aim to launch a Cyber Threat Center in Tokyo, which will be a threat intelligence platform that monitors, manages and reports on identified threats to organisations. It will collect information from structured and unstructured sources such as social media and the deep and dark webs.

“We look forward to working with LookingGlass to further protect our customers, and our country, from external cyber threats,” comments Soliton Systems CEO and founder, Dr. Nobuo Kamata.

“We trust that when we combine LookingGlass’ advanced capabilities, with our own endpoint detection and response product InfoTrace II for Cyber and our dedicated security expertise, we will have the necessary expertise and capabilities to defend against cyber events ranging from single system compromises to enterprise wide intrusions.”

Soliton will also join the LookingGlass Cyber Guardian Network Partner Program that will provide investment protection, sales enablement and responsiveness to the company.

The Program’s Asia-based partners include Accel Systems, NCS, Tech Mahindra, Paladion, PwC India, PCS Security and SysArmy.

Last Month LookingGlass raised $26.3 in Mezzanine funding, with plans to take its solutions global.

“The LookingGlass portfolio delivers unified threat protection against sophisticated cyber attacks and enables both global enterprises and governments to take threat intelligence into their own hands, and act on it. We are proud to add Eastward Capital and Triangle Peak to our long-term investor group,” commented LookingGlass CFO Stewart Curley.
