Accounting and business advisory firm Baker Tilly (Malaysia) has signed an agreement with Systech's cybersecurity solutions subsidiary SysArmy to help organisations strengthen security preparedness.

During the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU),  Andrew Heng, partner of Baker Tilly (Malaysia) and Hon Fun Ping, chief executive officer of SysArmy said that with an average of 10,000 cybercrime cases and more than 2,100 hacked servers reported in Malaysia every year it was imperative to put measures in place to defend against cyber-attacks.
The partners will launch a full spectrum of integrated cybersecurity solutions to help local organisations in the initial phase of cybercrime prevention.

Baker Tilly's Heng said, "By combining the top-notch security expertise and threats intelligence of SysArmy, coupled with our industry specific knowledge and deep experience in audit, tax and advisory, we are better positioned to advance our ability in helping our clients on their cybersecurity preparedness."

"Based on the third annual Allianz Risk Barometer Survey, cyber risk has moved into the top 10 global business risks in 2015," he added. "Whether targeted at government entities or private corporations, cyber-attacks continue to pose major risks to organisations of all sizes and in all industries."

"Our collaboration with SysArmy, in this case, has made the most sense, as it not only helps our joint clients to combat cybercrime, but at the same time, allows them to prepare for, recognize, and respond to potential cybersecurity threats before their operations are compromised," said Heng.

"Cybercrime is rapidly evolving and it is no longer a matter of 'will you become a victim of cybercrime' but 'when you will become a victim of cybercrime'," said SysArmy's Hon.

"Aligned with our shared strategy to protect businesses and individuals from cyber threats, we aim to further improve and enhance our existing capabilities in weathering the cyber threats and attacks, while doing our utmost to promote the implementation and development of cyber security," he said.

Established 1978, accounting and business advisory firm About Baker Tilly has its Malaysia headquarters in Bangsar South City, Kuala Lumpur - with offices in Batu Pahat, Johor Bahru, Kota Kinabalu, Labuan, Penang, Seremban, Tawau and Phnom Penh in Cambodia.
